Monaco, Nelson and Tasman

The top of New Zealand's South Island has so much to offer, so base yourself here and explore.

Visit the Abel Tasman National Park, renowned for its golden beaches, blue green waters and coastal track. You can take a boat from Nelson or enjoy the stunning scenery along the coastal drive.

Once there you can take a water taxi, enjoy a cruise or walk to one of the bays for a picnic. Go sea kayaking, dive or snorkel in the marine reserve. See the New Zealand fur seal or maybe you'll be lucky enough to spot a little blue penguin.

New Zealand's Kahurangi National Park

Kahurangi National Park offers walking tracks that will take you through New Zealand native bush to the top of mountains. Listen to New Zealand native birds and maybe even see a giant carnivorous snail.

If you've got several days to spare, you could even walk the Heaphy Track.

Nelson Lakes National Park offers beautiful lakes and scenery.

Soak up the views, go trout fishing, enjoy the native bush - you may even hear the kiwis call.

Or wander around the Waimea estuary, go bird watching and enjoy the scenery or wander further afield and enjoy a day trip to the Marlborough Sounds Maritime Park.

Nelson's Saturday market has many artists and crafts people

Artisans, Crafts People, Vineyards...

Then of course, there's the many artisans and crafts people in the area.

If you haven't got time to visit them independently look in some of Nelson's galleries and make sure you visit Nelson's Saturday market - an eclectic array of treats.

Motueka also has a Sunday market, so drive out, enjoying lunch at one of the Tasman vineyards or cafés along the way.
